An awards evening will take place this Thursday to honour those who do great work to make Stafford Borough a better place to live, work and visit.
Around thirty people, businesses and organisations were shortlisted for this year’s Borough Council ‘Community Awards.’ The awards are now in their fifth year and recognise the efforts of local people, businesses, schools and other groups that help to support and improve the community. And, the winners will be announced in the categories of Community Action, Environmental Improvement, Social Wellbeing, Local Hero, as well as a category to recognise sporting achievements in the borough – which was introduced as part of the awards last year.
Many nominations have come from great deeds carried out throughout the last 12 months during some of the most challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. The ceremony will take place at Rising Brook Church in Stafford with civic dignitaries, councillors, nominees, and award sponsors in attendance.
Councillor Jeremy Pert, said: “This has been another very challenging year for so many of those within our communities. But in the face of such adversity we have seen many individuals, volunteers, groups and businesses stand up and be counted in so many ways. I have always been aware that the voluntary sector was strong in Stafford and the surrounding areas but yet again what has been delivered this year has been humbling.”
