Beautiful weather, Jubilee Bank Holiday and a great line-up of attractions meant that this had the making of being one of the best Staffordshire County Shows in years, however, this was overshadowed by hours of traffic jams approaching the show on the final day.
People took to social media to voice their anger at the situation
Stafford FM were reporting on the traffic delays as they happened and spotted queues stretching back to Stowe-by-Chartley
It was reported that there was an accident on the A51 which would have added to the delays but this does not explain problems at the gate.
People had been encouraged to pre-book their tickets so were either forced to sit in the traffic in the warm weather or turn around and waste their money. It is unclear at this time if the County Show will issue refunds for people affected by this incident.
The show has always been busy with traffic, a purpose built pedestrian tunnel was created under the road to aid the flow of traffic during big events.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what the issues were but a combination of the bank holiday and glorious weather will have added to the problems.
Stafford FM have approached Staffordshire County Showground for comment and have not received a response at the time of writing.
